Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains, this glamorous resort has the great outdoors on its doorstep: sandy beaches, two championship golf courses and the Los Padres National Forest and vineyards.

Accommodation: 360 Rooms and Suites

Accommodation

Every one of the 311 rooms and 49 specialty suites is luxurious, understated, intimate and relaxed, and features a private patio or balcony.

From 450-square-foot Garden View rooms with lush panoramas of the gardens or courtyards to the Presidential Residence which features 3,700 square feet of discretion and serenity spread over two stories, you’ll find all the comforts of home, and then a few wonderful extras.

All rooms are equipped with high-speed internet access, multi-line phones, well-stocked mini bars, soft robes and slippers, Frette bed and bath linens, DVD players and many other amenities.

Restaurants & Bars

Miro, named after Spanish artist Joan Miro, offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, an artistic, luxurious interior and extraordinary Basque-Catalonian cuisine. To further enhance the dining experience there is a tremendous selection of world-class wines selected from Miro’s 12,000 bottle wine cellar which features over 800 different labels.

The Bistro offers sweeping ocean views with both indoor and alfresco dining on a seaside terrace. Only the purest and freshest ingredients are selected for The Bistro’s richly flavoured Mediterranean cuisine, with an emphasis on regionally and locally grown produce and herbs. The Bistro uses wood-burning ovens to cure and smoke its own fish, meats and vegetables which results in an unforgettable meal.

Recreation

In addition to the cultural and historical attractions of Santa Barbara, you’ll find activities at Bacara for every taste, interest and level of fitness.

Two renowned 18-hole golf courses offer preferred tee times for guests and professional golf instruction and four tennis courts feature daily lessons and clinics, but if you really want to relax, indulge at the 42,000-square-foot spa facility with 36 treatment rooms including four private spa treatment suites for multiple services. There is a dedicated Spa Concierge, indoor/outdoor massage, a heated, zero-edge saline-filled spa pool and Swiss showers. In addition, there is 3,500-square-feet of cardio-fitness and strength-training facilities, with one-on-one training, a full-service beauty salon and the Spa Cafe.

Local activities include vineyard tours and tastings, winemaker dinners, guided bicycle or horseback tours, bicycle rentals, single and tandem ocean kayaking, deep sea fishing, exclusive sailboat, yacht or catamaran excursions, scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, paragliding and whale watching.

Children

Bacara Kid’s Club is designed to give parents the opportunity to relax and enjoy a day full of activities, while their children explore, discover, create and imagine the mysterious environment around them.

Bacara Kid’s Club provides adventure in the great outdoors by taking nature hikes in and around the resort. Trips include outings to the monarch butterfly preserve and the Globose Dune Beetle Habitat and treasure hunts to discover the hidden secrets of the Chumash Indians. The surrounding coast makes the perfect setting to create sand castles, search for dolphins, sea otters and whales. Children can also fly kites, play croquet, football and other fun games, sports and races.

The specially designed kid-friendly room has a chinchilla, Sophie the club pet, and provides an environment to stimulate creativity while incorporating many fun art activities. The facilities offer iMAC computers, air hockey, foozball tables and many other fun games to entertain children. Children are encouraged to be creative through role-play in charades, puppet shows and face painting. Other activities are also available such as watching videos, making picture frames, colouring with crayons, paint or chalk and making block structures.

Bacara Kid’s Club is open by reservation from 9am – 4pm. Special evening programmes and activities are offered during holiday weekends.

We have actually been looking to go to the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara because we hear such great things about it from friends. Very awesome.
